VI MIRPS Annual Meeting

Panama - January 24th, 2024

On January 24, Support Platform members of the Comprehensive Regional Protection and Solutions Framework (MIRPS), civil society, and other relevant actors met in Panama to discuss the advances and challenges surrounding forced displacement in Mexico and Central America. This joint effort is aligned with the commitments presented at the Global Refugee Forum 2019 and 2023.

Our general director, Adrián Meléndez, was present at this event as a representative of the Pro-tempore Presidency of the MIRPS’s Dialogue Mechanism of Civil Society Organizations held by DIME during the year 2023.

This Mechanism aims to facilitate the exchange of good practices regarding the protection of people in mobility contexts and to foster the shared responsibility between origin, host, and transit countries. During our presidency period, we focused our efforts on promoting communication, participation, and coordination of civil society organizations in the region.

The VI Annual Meeting of the MIRPS served as a place to meet with the organizations with which we collaborated during the previous year, as well as to officially conclude our Pro-tempore Presidency.

At DIME, we recognize the extraordinary work of the MIRPS members in Mexico and Central America in tackling the challenges of forced displacement. We also believe that together we can continue to collaborate closely to make the MIRPS a benchmark in the creation of comprehensive protection solutions for people in mobility contexts.
