Global Certification Program on Forced Migration and Inclusive Higher Education for Refugees

March 4th-7th, 2024, Monterrey and Saltillo

From March 4 to 7, Opening Universities for Refugees (OUR) and Diálogo Intercultural Mexicano (DIME) carried out the first Global Certification Program on Forced Migration and Inclusive Higher Education for Refugees in Mexico.

The certification had two locations, the University of Monterrey (UDEM) and La Salle Saltillo, where topics related to the past, present and future of forced migration at a global level were taught, as well as complementary education pathways in Mexico.

Among other things, the program managed to show participants how to develop complementary pathways in a creative way, taking advantage of local resources to support both refugees and the communities that receive them in their integration processes.

The two-day program was completely free for all participants and has been facilitated by the Connected Learning in Crisis Consortium through the creation of a community of practice between OUR and DIME in order to share experiences and knowledge.

For DIME, it was an honor to be part of such an important and necessary program today.

Together with allies like OUR, we are committed to continuing to create educational opportunities for people in mobility contexts while raising awareness among the communities that host them.

We extend our thanks to all participants and parties involved, including the Connected Learning in Crisis Consortium (CLCC).
